In order to have the full benefits of your lace wig, the lace part of the wig should be applied to a completely hairless area. This is the only way your scalp can be seen though the lace. The purpose of the lace is to let your scalp show and look natural. Unless you have a Tyra Banks forehead your hair line should be shaved clean so the adhesive can adhere. However, with the use of tapes and adhesives chances are you are causing more damage with these wigs and they are expensive. You are setting yourself up for an on-going increasingly dependent situation.

If only the top of your head is thinning or even balding, this may not be your best solution.
